Haskins West End Donates Over £13,900 To Friends Of PICU Haskins West End raised over £13,900 for Friends of PICU, the centre’s charity of the year in 2024. e West End team organised fundraising initiatives throughout the year, including raffles and hampers, seed planting events, and a Christmas Santa night. Haskins sta nominated Friends of PICU as the centre’s chosen charity last year. e charity supports children and their families while they are in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital Southampton. e West End Garden centre has supported Friends of PICU since 2022 and will continue to do so in 2025. Peter Callaway, General Manager at Haskins West End, said: “The staff at West End have done a fantastic job raising funds for Friends of PICU. Many of our team members have personal experiences with the charity or have met families in our centre who have been supported by this incredible cause. It’s lovely to hear from these people that our work has supported their family in some way.” Highlights from a year of fundraising included hosting a ‘Meet Santa’ evening in the restaurant’s Swan Room, donating products for fetes and family events, organising hamper ra es, and hosting a gardening games stall at Friends of PICU’s summer Family Fun Day. Ellen Pallas and Rachel Coventry from the Haskins Customer Services team led the fundraising initiatives, with several Haskins team members also contributing their time. Kerry Houghton, Operations Manager for Friends of PICU, added: “We are extremely grateful to Haskins West End for its dedication and fundraising efforts during 2024. The ongoing support has made such a difference, and we are so thankful for the wonderful donations we have received to help us in our work supporting the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. These included ever-so thoughtful items like oil diffusers for mothers in the unit on Mother’s Day – these really brought a big smile to many faces. It’s gestures like this that really matter to families during difficult times.” Friends of PICU is a registered charity who supports children and their families on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit Southampton Children’s Hospital at the University Hospital Southampton.
