Shieldhall will be open ‘alongside’ free of charge between 10am–2pm, an opportunity to explore the ship from ‘stem to stern.’ Places for the Open Day may be booked online, with free parking and refreshments available. Later that a ernoon Shieldhall will ‘Steam to the Solent’, (3.30pm–7pm) and on her return is scheduled to pass ve departing cruise ships, Independence of the Seas, Iona, Sky Princess, MSC Virtuosa and Ventura – always an opportunity to sound the Shieldhall whistle and play the Shieldhall ‘organ’! Sunday 25th May sees Shieldhall make her rst visit of the season to Portsmouth Harbour (1pm–7pm) with a cruise that will remember the 85th anniversary of Dunkirk and the 80th anniversary of VE and VJ Day. Re-enactors from e Living History Group will be on board, and a short service will be given by the Shieldhall Padre Dennis Mould. Earlier on the Sunday Shieldhall will welcome the Lord Mayor of Southampton and his Chaplain, who will oversee a Rogation Sunday Service ‘Blessing of the Waves’ onboard. Rogation Sunday marks the h Sunday following Easter. e service will feature the hymns ‘All ings Bright and Beautiful’; ‘Eternal Father Strong to Save’ and the city hymn ‘Our God, Our Help in Ages Past’ followed by an address and prayer of thanks and blessing. An explanation of the history of Rogation Sunday will be given, with readings led by the Lord Mayor. Tickets for the Rogation Service, to include tea, co ee and biscuits are £3.50, with proceeds divided amongst the Lord Mayor’s charities, with a donation made to Shieldhall. Shieldhall will be open from 9am for the Rogation Sunday Service, which will take place from 9.30am – approx. 10.10am, a er which guests are welcome to explore the ship until 11am. Early June sees two of Shieldhall’s most popular cruises being staged, the Round the Island Race sailing on Saturday 7th June (10am–5pm) and a ‘Steam to the Solent’ sailing with the Selsey Shantymen on Sunday 8th June (2.30pm–6pm).
