Despite not winning the competition, luck was on his side as fellow competitor, Lucie Mann from New Forest Aquaponics CIC, o ered to organise help for Ivor with his garden and to create a garden providing fresh fruit and vegetables for whoever needed it in the local community. Lucie found volunteers, organised the donation of compost bins, a garden table and wood chips and made a successful application for a grant to grow fruit trees. anks to the volunteers, two years down the line and Ivor is able to enjoy his garden again, as well as having the bonus of friendship and company from the volunteers who help tend to the fruit and vegetable crops that help to feed those in the community that need it. Ivor comments: “My wasteland garden has now been transformed into something that benefits my local community and has also widened my circle of friends. Looking back on it now, it was surprisingly easy. Although there was a lot of luck involved! My problem isn’t unique. Other people will have problems with their gardens which could be solved using the answer I found or something like it.” Before After IT’S TIME TO EXPLORE YOUR CREATIVE SIDE AT WATERSIDE ART GROUP Waterside Art Group is an informal group providing a welcoming and supportive place for anyone who likes to paint or draw.
