Tenovus Cancer Care sent massive congratulations to John on celebrating 5 years long service at their charity shop in Hythe. He received a framed certi cate and a heartfelt letter of appreciation thanking him for all his help and support he continues to give at the shop, and for being such a wonderful, welcoming familiar face to many! He was also thanked for all the long hours he puts in working with the team on the shop oor and tills, and it has been said that he is ‘the most well known volunteer - everyone knows John!’ John loves volunteering, and says working with the manager Bertie, and all the other fantastic volunteers is fun. ere are lots of reasons why John really enjoys his work, because he meets so many people, and feels a part of the local community which makes him feel happy and healthy. Volunteers are so important to the work of the Cancer charity and they couldn’t do the work they do without the amazing volunteers. Well done John! InterSection, a well - known group of local singers are busy practicing for their upcoming concert, along with several familiar friends to help out with some delightful quartet pieces. Most songs will be sung A Capella, meaning unaccompanied, with just a couple where they are joined on the piano by another friend of the group. As usual, the concert aims to include something for all tastes; with some secular pieces by Mendelssohn and Mozart, a little of Noel Coward, and some more modern songs made famous by Walt Disney’s Hercules, Fishermans’ Friends, The Greatest Showman, Wicked, Neil Young and Ed Sheeran to name just a few. at must surely whet your appetite! is friendly group would very much like to expand to include a top soprano and a tenor to join them on Tuesday evenings to have fun singing together (teach tracks provided). e best way to make up your mind is to check them out at the concert on Saturday 7th June, 7.30pm, at St John’s Church, New Road in Hythe. Entry is £10, to include a glass of wine.
