Award winning jazz vocalist and singer songwriter Claire McAllister is a Guildhall Music School graduate with two original album and EP record releases to date with Turquoise Coconut Records. She ran her eponymous jazz function band for 10 years and has performed at Milton Court, the Barbican, the Guardian Hay Festival, Hampton Court Palace, e Princes Hall, and e Reform Club. She has played or studied with numerous artists including Dennis Rollins, Liane Caroll, Brigitte Beraha, Carlos Lopez-Real and Scott Stroman. In her new trio she will be playing a mix of fresh arrangements of her compositions which speak about our common shared experiences o en questioning how we can nd and create more joy and peace alongside some well known songs. Her sound is o en compared with Sade, Abbey Lincoln, Liane Le Havas or Karen Carpenter. She is joined by virtuoso electric accordion player Volodymyr Vasylenko who is one of ve in the whole of Ukraine who plays jazz on accordion and bayan. He has numerous awards and formal quali cations alongside many concert performances in Ukraine and beyond. More recently he taught music in schools before having to ee Kharkiv where he used to live with his family before the war. Also joining Claire is the inspirational and creatively versatile improviser, composer, drummer and percussionist Martin Pyne who also works as a soloist and in ensembles o en performing with dancers and accompanying silent lm at the Barbican, London. Special guests Alex Western-King and Martin Bowes will also perform. Alex is an award-winning musician and one of the most sought a er saxophone players on the London jazz scene. Described as “reaching deep into the core of jazz”, Alex is passionate about communicating through music and preserving the jazz tradition. Since graduating the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2017, Alex has performed extensively throughout the UK and Europe including playing sold out shows at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, Royal Albert Hall, Hideaway Jazz Club and many theatres around the country. Martin Bowes is a physical performer and creative dancer. He has collected many movement techniques of Eastern and Western origin. He performs in lm, theatre, and non traditional indoor/outdoor spaces. His dance ranges from outright athletic to nuanced gesture; transformative, freeing and cathartic - expressing a range of emotions appropriate to the art and audience.
