She was awarded the cup for her work with the Langley Community and Langley Hub. Christine accepted the cup on behalf of Langley Hub saying that the community events Langley Hub have organised were a team e ort. However, without Christine, Langley Hub would never have been formed. When it was announced in November 2023 that St Francis Church, Langley, would be put up for sale, Christine felt it would be ideal if the building could be bought by the Langley community to be used as a community centre. To investigate the feelings of the local residents, to such a suggestion, she organised a meeting which was well attended. As a consequence of this initial meeting, Christine accepted the role of Chairman and took on all the administration tasks that arose, such as researching how funding to purchase the building could be raised, emailing various organisations, keeping the group informed by regular meetings and emails. Unfortunately, the selling of the church progressed too quickly for the local residents to even begin to organise themselves to raise su cient funds to buy it. However, Langley Hub was formed by a few of the regular attenders of the “Save the Church” group with Christine becoming Chairman. Christine is the linchpin of Langley Hub; leading, informing and helping to encourage community engagement in Langley. Thank you Christine for everything that you do for Langley Hub. If you would like to join Langley Hub, then do please look at our website for more information: www.langleyhub. co.uk or email: Langleyhubnewforest@ gmail.com Come along to one of our regular meetings held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at e Langley, Lepe Road, Langley from 7pm to about 8pm.
