Working closely with Culture in Common, Forest Forge Theatre Company, Dorset Arts Reach and many local artists and creatives we have so far brought lm, theatre, workshops, music, street performance, cartooning to the area, and this coming year is no exception. We have lots of events coming up and we also have long term plans for the future and for that we need more assistance. Organising any event now involves a lot more paperwork and admin and if that is your forte then we need you. It can be looking a er booking venues to completing risk assessments, from grant applications to the upkeep of the website. You don’t need prior knowledge to do these things we’ll point you in the right direction and help you. We also need practical help on event days such as making refreshments, setting rooms up, moving and delivering equipment etc. And nally if you have an idea for an arts activity or event that you have always wanted to organise but don’t know where to start then come and see us and we’ll help! If you can help email us: thewatersidefestival@gmail.com Waterside Heritage held its (mercifully short!) AGM on 28th April which was followed by a fascinating talk by Robin Somes on Ashlett Mill. Our next event will be our Open Days on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th June. We intend to have displays on the history of aspects of the three Waterside parishes of Hythe and Dibden, Fawley and Marchwood - both as board mounted displays and also as rolling presentations on a large screen. In addition there will be some books for sale at reduced prices – some are even free. Do come along and see what we get up to and how we do it. Later this year, we intend to publish the book on Dibden, started by our late Chairman Graham Parkes and completed by our Vice-Chairman, Gordon Chambers with help from Robin Somes. is volume will have more photographs and fewer words than the companion volumes on Fawley and Hythe and it will also have an index. During the summer, as it is the holiday season, it is likely that the Waterside Arts Needs Volunteers!
