Steamship Shieldhall, Southampton’s heritage steamship, is delighted to announce that she will be attending this spectacular event and has secured a prime anchorage position just outside the race exclusion zone over both days - o ering a strategic vantage point to enjoy the action! Anchored in line with the race course, Shieldhall promises exceptional views, all from the comfort of a spacious and stable historic vessel. Each day, Shieldhall will depart from her berth in Southampton and sail to the designated anchorage in Portsmouth, just outside the race exclusion zone, to watch the action. Shieldhall’s timings for the days are: • 12noon - Depart Berth 110, Southampton Western Docks passing Iona, Sky Princess and Ventura (19th July) and Arvia, Independence of the Seas and Regal Princess (20th July) at anchor • 3pm - Arrive at anchorage • 4pm-5.30pm - SailGP Racing slot • 5.30pm - 6pm - Depart anchorage • 8.30pm - Arrive Berth 110, Southampton Western Docks In addition to what promises to be spectacular racing, Shieldhall o ers guests a full day out on the water, and guests can access her impressive engine room with original steam engines at work and the bridge, with its traditional instruments and gleaming brasswork. ere will be opportunities to admire the ship’s steam Watch the spectacle of SailGP from the comfort of SS Shieldhall assisted steering gear (similar to that used on Titanic); talk to the Captain and her volunteer crew; listen to an informed commentary on the sights and sounds of Southampton Water and e Solent; pass close to the great ocean liners and container ships; walk Shieldhall’s teak decks; relax in the Saloon with a wide range of refreshments including tea / co ee; real ale; a range of bottled beers; wine and hot and cold food, including ice cream. Courtesy parking is available close to the berth. Children will have fun with an interactive Shieldhall Log Book, collecting stickers from various stations on board! THE AMPFIELD MARKET e Market is always held on the first Saturday of the month (excluding January and August which are holiday months). It takes place in Amp eld Village Hall (SO51 9BJ), between 10am and 12noon. Parking and admission are free. e Market has become a very popular meeting place, o ering the best value, most delicious refreshments in Hampshire! Every e ort is made to keep the sales tables lively and interesting. ere are top quality, locally sourced items for sale including cakes, biscuits, savoury foods, honey, fresh bread, eggs, plants, fruit and veg, cra s, books, cards, wrapping paper, jewellery and collectables. They order their fruit and veg from Hansards a very reputable local supplier and they endeavour to sell a good variety of fresh, seasonal produce every month. Matt’s Bakery in Chandlers Ford also supply their bread each month. e Market generates almost £3,000 a year towards Village Hall funds. e Market team generously volunteer their time and baking skills to provide a delicious seasonal selection of cakes every month, which are served with co ee and tea throughout the morning. e next Amp eld Market will take place on Saturday 7th June between 10am and 12noon.
