Waterside Art Group meets from 7pm to 9pm on Tuesday evenings at Hythe & Dibden Community Centre in Brinton Lane, o Jones Lane, Hythe SO45 6DU. Membership of this friendly group costs just £65 a year, which gives members the chance to attend weekly meetings and to show and sell their artwork at the group’s summer exhibition. Or, if you prefer not to commit to a full year, you’re welcome to attend occasional meetings as a non-member for £5 a session (but you won’t have the option to enter the exhibition). If you like painting or drawing, whether you’re only just starting out or already have lots of creations under your belt, Waterside Art Group would love to see you. e group meets on Tuesday evenings to provide a calm space to paint or draw for a couple of hours, away from the hustle and bustle. It’s also a lovely opportunity to get to know other creative people. e group aims to support inclusive participation in the arts, bringing people together to enjoy art and the local art scene. e meetings aren’t taught lessons: members take their own materials to work with and start, or carry on with, their painting or drawing in whatever medium they like. “We encourage each other by sharing tips, ideas and information,” says Frances, who has been a member Impression of Stonehenge’ by a Waterside Art Group member since 2018, “And we each benefit from being among such good-humoured and supportive people.” In addition to the group’s weekly evening sessions, most years they hold a critique evening, where a professional artist and tutor gives insightful feedback on attendees’ artwork; a one-day workshop, for example on how to use a particular medium; and a Look Into My Eyes Totton South u3a normally meets at Colbury Memorial Hall on the 4th Friday afternoon of the month, doors open 1.30pm. e next meeting will be on Friday 20th June for a talk titled ‘Look into my Eyes’. Hypnosis dates back to the dawn of civilisation. eir speaker, a local resident, will give a presentation about the history and mystery of hypnosis and will show the bene ts of Hypnotherapy today. On Friday 18th July their speaker will give an entertaining talk titled ‘ irty Years with the Hampshire Constabulary’ based on her experience working in our Police Force. She illustrates her talk in a unique way. Visitors welcome (2 visits before paying membership of £17 per u3a year).
