JON’S BIKE REPAIR & SALES Unit 19, Glenmore Business Park, Hardley Industrial Estate, Lime Kiln Lane, Holbury SO45 2AR 023 8089 0712 EST: 2016 Cake4Cancer and VE Day Celebrations for Waterside Short Mat Bowls Club Waterside Short Mat Bowls Club had a “bit of a do” on the early May Day Bank Holiday. e club had a fun a ernoon, as well as having their normal Roll Up; they held a Cake4Cancer event for Wessex Cancer Support and celebrated VE Day. ey made and sold cakes and sausage rolls, held a guess the weight of the cake competition and a guess how many sweets in the jar. ey also had a bit of a sing song along to music. e Club are thankful to Fawley Parish Council who kindly gave the Club free venue-hire for the QEII Pavilion in Black eld for the event. In turn the Club donated their Mat Fees for the day to the Charity as well as the money raised selling cakes both at the event and at their Wednesday and Friday sessions. £112.85 was raised for the Charity’s Waterside Cancer Support Centre in Hythe. e Club donated a cheque for £500 to Wessex Cancer Support in April, along with a donation tin containing £218.56. Whilst all that was happening Fawley hosted U13s waterfall 7s event. 4 pitches, 7 minutes fast action games, 16 teams, 8 trophies (cup, shield, plate, bowl) loads of medals, and plenty of fun. A huge thank you to all the volunteers; referees, scores, line runners, BBQ squad, bar, line out shack, match control, parking marshals, and general setup helpers. Without their time and commitment such events couldn’t happen. ank you! On the day our Fawley boys were outstanding. Undefeated in their 7 games in group stages, winning in the QF against Fordingbridge, and SF against Winchester A, only to come Cup Runners up in the nal against and excellent New Milton team. Since then Fawley 1st XV have continued their run of success, winning against Guildfordians RFC to qualify for the Southern Shield Final of the Papa John’s Community Cup. Fawley RFC U13 team DIBDEN OPEN GOLF SOCIETY (DOGS) RESULTS 29th April the ‘DOGS’ played an individual Stableford in very hot ‘summery’ weather, due to course maintenance on the 18 hole course the ‘DOGS’ played the ‘top half’ of the course twice plus the usual add ons, this week some of the ‘DOGS’ ew away to Turkey to play their golf and enjoy the Turkish Delights away from home soil. Meanwhile back to home soil at Dibden Golf Course. Winner: L Jones (35), 2nd: S Lawson (34), 3rd: T Oliver (32C/B), 2’s winners: S Lawson & D Bravery.
