Mike joins the Board of Maritime UK Solent, as Alastair Welch, Regional Director at Associated British Ports (ABP) steps down a er serving on the Board of Maritime UK Solent since its inception. Alastair played a pivotal role in shaping Maritime UK Solent from the outset to provide a collective voice for the maritime sector in the South, and to foster collaborations between industry, government and academia to drive growth. Anne-Marie Mounti eld, Chair of Maritime UK Solent, said: “The Solent is the UK’s global gateway and the ports play a critical role, not only to the economic success of our region, but to the whole country. Having this expertise from Alastair, and now Mike, on the Board of Maritime UK Solent is invaluable as we navigate global challenges, changes and opportunities which impact so significantly on our coastal communities. Alastair’s expertise and contributions have been instrumental in steering the direction of Maritime UK Solent and establishing it as the major regional cluster it is today. As we grow our membership, Mike’s knowledge will be crucial as we strive to further strengthen the Solent’s maritime sector and help businesses to innovate, compete, and win on the global stage.” Mike Sellers joined Portsmouth International Port as Director in 2017, having spent the previous 20 years at ABP in the North and North-East of England. He was Chair of the British Ports Association from 2023-2025. The successful candidate should have a minimum of 2 years previous experience working in Residential Conveyancing. This role will be based at our Waterside office. Roles and Responsibilities: To include: • General admin tasks such as opening new client files, sending out client care letters, filing, photocopying and management of an appointment and training diary. • Communicating with clients, agents, brokers and third parties by telephone, email, and letter • Assisting the Fee Earner to maintain a good size case load from start to finish to including exchange, completion, registration, and archiving. • Submitting searches, reviewing mortgage offers, reviewing the title documents and protocol documentation requiring redemption statements, highlighting to the Fee earner any areas of concern. • Dealing with enquiries received and researching where necessary to supply responses, liaising with third parties including management companies, councils, lender’s etc • Dealing with all types of residential matters sales, purchases, re-mortgages, new builds, and shared ownership properties. • To assist with the organisation of occasional marketing events hosted or organised by the firm and/or department. • Keeping up to date with AML & Risk management obligations. The Candidate: The ideal candidate will be someone who: • Has at least 2 years’ experience working with the Residential Conveyancing. • Good computer skills and excellent attention to detail are required as well as excellent written English skills. • Good manner with clients, agents, and brokers and able to create good relationships to ensure repeat business.
