Starting with only a few players they now have 3 squads covering ages 6 to 60. Fawley Sparklers are the youngest age group for girls in Year R to Year 6. Fawley Flames is for girls in Year 7 to Year 11. For women aged 16 to adults we have Fawley Firecats. Rugby is one of the most inclusive sports there is. Whether you’re looking for tness, friendship or con dence, there’s a place for everyone. Week day evening touch rugby (non-contact) sessions will be running over summer from 4th June to 27th August at Fawley RFC, opposite Gang Warily. Wednesdays 6.30pm to 7.30pm for girls aged 6 to 16. Thursdays 6.30pm to 7.30pm for ages 16 to 60+ (unless you’ve played before in which case you can join this session from age 14). e clubhouse will be open for family members who would like to stay and enjoy a drink. Nearest the pin solo winner: D McManus (4th). thankyou to all the ‘DOGS’ who helped raise a total of £126 which was donated to Oakhaven Hospice, the donation was gratefully received. 30th May the ‘DOGS’ played an Away Day at the Moors Valley Country Park, played in hot sunny weather followed by excellent food the competition was an individual Stableford won by Rich Hinder. 3rd June the ‘DOGS’ played their Monthly Individual Stableford Competition, due to the heavy winds and rain only 11 players braved the conditions with only 7 lasting the whole 18 holes, due Phil Wright Trophy On ursday 29th May gender neutral golf nally arrived when 42 New Forest Golf Club Seniors played in a pairs aggregate stableford competition o the red tees for the Phil Wright Trophy. Presented by fellow seniors member Gill Wright in memory of her husband who sadly passed in 2023, all (except Gill) experienced strange tee positions and some unexpectedly di erent stroke indexes on a warm but overcast and somewhat breezy day. Ian Coundon and Phil Walker played solidly throughout to emerge winners of this inaugural event, with Mike Ahearn and Richard Hammond just 1 point behind. Ian Coundon also won nearest the pin on the 14th. Results: 1st Ian Coundon and Phil Walker - 70 points, 2nd Mike Ahearn and Richard Hammond - 69 points, 3rd Alan Clark and Chris Webb - 68 points (back 9=38, back 6=25), 4th Robin Swanston and Rob Young - 68 points (back 9=38, back 6=24, back 3=15). Gill Wright presenting the Phil Wright Trophy to Phil Walker (left) and Ian Coundon (right) 6th Shallow Boat Competition On Sunday 18th May Lymington & District Sea Fishing Club held its 6th Shallow Boat competition. e weather on the day began sunny and very warm with a moderate breeze, but sadly when the tide turned it became rough and unpleasant for a couple of hours. 8 club members took part and all caught sh which consisted of bass, black bream, dog sh, pouting, smooth-hound, bull-huss and ballan wrasse. All the sh were measured, weighed and returned to the sea as quickly as possible. Alan Mapes caught a nice ballan wrasse weighing 4lb 9oz which was returned to the sea. Results: 1st Neil Mitchener 90 points, 2nd Alan Mapes 84 points, 3rd Andrew Haines 73 points, 4th Eddie Maynard (13 sh) 55 points, 5th Ady Hulme (7 sh) 55 points, 6th Paul Watson 50 points, 7th Adrian Moody 35 points, 8th Alan Martin 20 points. Alan Mapes June Monthly Medals On Tuesday 3rd June an unseasonably cool, wet and windy day, 32 New Forest Golf Club Seniors arrived for the June monthly medal competition o the white tees. With the wind gusting unexpectedly at times, use of umbrellas was inadvisable making conditions even more uncomfortable, but despite all this some good scores were achieved. In Division 1, Roy Nelson built on his trophy successes for this year by winning with nett 68, while Trevor Davies won the Division 2 medal for the second month running with nett 70. Nearest the pin on 13 was won by Martin Ranger. Division 1: 1st Roy Nelson – nett 68, 2nd Robin Swanston – nett 69, 3rd Neil Archibald – nett 70. Medal winners (left - right) Roy Nelson and Trevor Davies 5TH RECREATIONAL MID-WEEK FISHING TRIP Report sent in by Robin Lane On ursday 15th May Lymington & District Sea Fishing Club held a recreational mid-week shing trip aboard “Piscary” skippered by Matt Rowe out from Poole. It was a bright sunny day but sadly with a strong northerly wind and again our target sh was bream with plenty being caught. We then moved on for our second target sh which plaice was catching them on the dri with some success. Lastly Matt moved to our nal mark where we were catching congers, bream, dog sh, pouting and Malcolm Gerrish caught an undulate ray weighing 15lbs which was returned to the sea.
