A er the successful launch of the Hythe Scarecrow Festival last year, raising over £2,200+ for Hythe Alive & The Firefighters Charity, the organisers are hoping to do the same (if not better) this year! Scarecrows for the trail will be displayed from 9am on 6th September until 8pm on Monday 22nd September. Maps listing all the scarecrows and their locations will be on sale during the festival, with the public able to vote for their favourite scarecrows. On Saturday 20th September the Hythe Scarecrow Festival will take place at Hythe & Dibden Parish Hall, West Street, Hythe SO45 6AA, where the winners of the scarecrow awards will be announced and presented. ere will also be entertainment from a circus entertainer, local businesses with stalls, local food and drink stands, cakes to buy, face painting, glitter tattoos, and soak the re ghter from Hythe Fire Station to name just a few! It’s free to enter a scarecrow; the Scarecrow categories, with prizes sponsored by local businesses include, but are not limited to: • Public vote • Best scarecrow by a resident • Best scarecrow by a business • Funniest scarecrow • Best dressed scarecrow • Best literary scarecrow • Best scarecrow made by a community group (preschools, schools, brownies, scouts, adult day care centres etc) If you would like to make and enter a scarecrow into this year’s festival, please scan the QR code for more information, entries will close on 1st August.
