New Forest Militaria Fair e next New Forest Militaria Fair will be on Wednesday 3rd September from 7pm to 9.30pm in the Colbury Church Rooms, Deerleap Lane, Colbury (near Ashurst) SO40 7EH. ere are stalls o ering a variety of militaria items, and these events are an ideal venue for dealers, collectors and enthusiasts to get together to buy, sell, swap, exhibit and talk about all aspects of militaria. It takes place in Amp eld Village Hall (SO51 9BJ), between 10am and 12noon. Parking and admission are free. e Market has become a very popular meeting place, o ering the best value, most delicious refreshments in Hampshire! Every e ort is made to keep the sales tables lively and interesting. ere are top quality, locally sourced items for sale including cakes, biscuits, savoury foods, honey, fresh bread, eggs, plants, fruit and veg, cra s, books, cards, wrapping paper, jewellery and collectables. ey order their fruit and veg from Hansards a very reputable local supplier and they endeavour to sell a good variety of fresh, seasonal produce every month. Matt’s Bakery in Chandlers Ford also supply their bread each month. e Market generates almost £3,000 a year towards Village Hall funds. e Market team generously volunteer their time and baking skills to provide a delicious seasonal selection of cakes every month, which are served with co ee and tea throughout the morning. e next Amp eld Market will take place on Saturday 6th September between 10am and 12noon. Over 40 stalls will come together to showcase their organisation, charity or community group. It’s an event full of welcoming stalls that will have interactive games and activities to do along the way. A great opportunity for local residents to come down to the village and have a look at what they can get involved in themselves, anything from volunteering, meeting local like-minded people or just getting involved in special events. is year will see a councillor stand, where kids can get involved with a fun game collecting stamps from the di erent stalls, resulting in a fun activity goodie bag upon completion. At the end of the Hythe of Activity Day there will the annual awards ceremony for the Community Spirit and Environmental Champion awards. Local residents can be nominated for going above and beyond for their community or environment. From the classics to pop, to your favourite tunes from stage and screen, there will be something for everyone to enjoy from one of the South West’s premier brass bands. Sounds of Stage and Screen - Charity Symphony Orchestra with Sweet Charity Choir, Saturday 20th September, 7.30pm, Romsey Abbey, Church Lane, Romsey SO51 8EP. Join two of the region’s successful and exciting fundraising ensembles as they embark on their second collaborative project. An evening of choral and orchestral greats from the stage and screen. An Entertainers Life Hythe Townswomen’s Guild’s next meeting will be on 11th September ‘An Entertainers Life’ by Shelley Lazano. Meetings take place at St Andrew’s Church starting at 2pm. New members are welcome to join this great group of ladies who make it a lovely way to spend two hours. ere is also a sales table, proceeds this year will be donated to local charity Families Matter (familiesmatter.org.uk) based at Cornerstone Church in Hythe. As well as regular meetings they also have interest groups including Knit and Natter, lunch club and a skittles team. Other interest groups starting up include a walking group, social studies group and a lm group. e members had a great time at their Birthday party on 10th July, with the wonderful Ukulele band getting their feet tapping and getting the ladies to join in some of the nostalgic songs they played and sang. ey are now looking forward to a Cream Tea at Ste ’s Kitchen in Fairweather’s Garden Centre in August, before they get back into their Autumn programme in September.
