At the beginning of the month thirty six members from across Hampshire boarded a ight to Belfast to attend the National Annual Meeting. Travelling so far the journey has to be made worthwhile so the visit was spread over ve days and allowed us to visit Stormont, the Mountains of Mourne, Crumlin Road Gaol, the wonderful Titanic Museum, Giants Causeway not forgetting why we went to attend the International Convention Centre to meet up with all our friends from around the United Kingdom for the Meeting and to listen to the inspirational story from Clodagh Dunlop who conquered the illness Locked in Syndrome and is still a serving police o cer in Ireland. e Hampshire West Zoom group, who have met since the pandemic and keep in contact at least once a month, have a get together annually at a central point convenient to all. is year we chose Hungerford, going on a canal journey, followed with a picnic lunch on the canal side. Our Regional Chair, Hilary Crane, was coming to the end of her term of o ce so areas throughout the Region organised low key events for her to visit. Our meeting. Outings enjoyed have been taking the ferry from Warsash to Hamble taking the Adventure Lab Trail around Hamble and enjoying a cream tea. Enjoying a board walk, taking a boat trip from Bucklers Hard to Beaulieu, cooking a complete meal on an open re, and a Garden Party which raised £250.50 to donate to a local Woman’s Refuge. e County were proud to learn of a Lone member being recognised in the Kings Birthday Honours List with an MBE, well done Janet Parker. Trefoil Guilds are open to anyone over the age of eighteen years, especially interested in the Girlguiding movement as we are called on to support our uniformed colleagues in an hour of need. Details may be found on Trefoil Guild or Girlguiding websites and if you discover there is not a Guild in your immediate area, if you have ve like minded friends you are welcome to start your own Guild details and support from Trefoil Headquarters. Trefoil trip to Belfast area was Romsey and a very good day was held based at Romsey School and visiting the Abbey, King John’s House, the Signal Box and a guided walk around the town. At the onset of summer, most Guilds take advantage of the weather by meeting outdoors for their monthly HYTHE INDOOR MARKET As well as the very popular Hythe Market held on the High Street, you will also nd an Indoor Market every Tuesday in St John’s Church Hall from 9am to 2pm. e indoor market has been running for over 30 years, o ering a wide variety of stalls from local cra ers and sellers. e regular stalls include handmade gi s for babies and children, jewellery, homemade cakes, preserves and jams, greetings cards, wooden fairy doors and trinket boxes, wind chimes and more! You can also take a break from the shopping whilst you are there and enjoy a hot drink and a bacon bap or slice of cake from the café run by volunteers from St John’s Church.
