It proved to be a great day even though play started in light rain, but cakes and refreshments at “Café 11” proved a welcome interlude in play. e rain soon cleared up resulting in some impressive scores posted. Following the golf, Sue Lewis, Lady Captain was thrilled to be joined by the golfers, volunteers and players past and present for food and the presentation in the Dibden Centre Clubhouse. Sue Hallet won the day with an impressive 42 points and was presented with the MJM trophy. ere were lots of other prizes to celebrate the day: 18-hole results: Lynn Dunkason came rst in division one. Caroline King was second and Sally Till third. Debbie Campbell topped the leaderboard in division two with Viv Boot and Cathy Davies second and third respectively. e third division was won by Maureen Cavill. Pam Kellaway came-in second with Linda Bell third. Two nearest the pins were played on the fourth and 11th holes. e fourth hole nearest the pin was won by Lynn Dunkason and the 11th, won by Ros Bentley. 9-hole results: Diana Ryan came rst with Ursula Symes second and Gillian Munro third. Spot prizes were also given to Jan Walker, Maureen Webb, Jackie Howells, Eliz Smith, Hilary Bell and Miriam Eve. Well done to everyone who played and supported the day! 3rd July saw the Women’s Club Championship fought over 36 holes. Fortunately, the heat of the previous few days subsided with golf being played in very pleasant conditions. Well done everyone who played and to all those who helped make the day run so smoothly. e women’s section must be in good hands as both the Captain, Sue Lewis and the Vice Captain, Pam Colmer returned the best gross and best net scores! Results: 18-hole Club Championship winner Sue Lewis (36 hole) with a gross of 161. Pam Colmer winner of the Summer salver with a net of 136. Division one (Forest plate) winner Lynn Dunkason, net 138 with Linda Compton second. Division two (Kiwi trophy) winner Jackie Howells, net 145 with Sheila Rothwell second. Division 3 (Swan cup) winner Elaine Thomas, net 144. Sue Hallet came in second. Over 18 holes Pam Kellaway won with a net of 66, with Dallas Nicholson second. Lionel Burns Memorial Trophy On ursday 10th July, a blisteringly hot day, 45 New Forest Golf Club Seniors played in this inaugural stableford competition o the yellow tees for the Lionel Burns Memorial Trophy. Lionel, who sadly died last year, was a keen golfer and had been a member of New Forest Golf Club for 50 years. Despite the heat, some extremely good scores were achieved with Steve Duckett’s 41 points just beating Mike Broom in Division 1. But it was Division 2’s Mike Wharton who emerged ultimate winner with 45 points (28 of those scored on the back 9). Neil Edmondson won DIBDEN OPEN GOLF SOCIETY (DOGS) RESULTS 1st July the ‘DOGS’ played an Individual Stableford, this was the 1st round of the ‘DOGS’ 2025 Championship played over the 18 hole course. Winner of the Lionel Burns Memorial Trophy, Mike Wharton 8th Shallow Boat Competition On Sunday 13th July Lymington & District Sea Fishing Club held its 8th Shallow Boat competition. e weather could not have been better. Bright sunshine from the start. e wind was a bit stronger than forecast but 11 club members signed on and had a good day’s shing. Fish caught included bass, bream, dog sh and smooth-hound. All the sh on these competitions are measured, points awarded and released back into the sea as quickly as possible.
