The school is bringing its catering back in house in September so the timing was perfect.” A school in Lymington now has a magni cent new ermomix – a multi-purpose kitchen appliance – thanks to a nearby care home. Colten Care’s Court Lodge bought some ra e tickets for the draw at South Baddesley Primary School and won the star prize. But already having a ermomix, the home gave it back to the school where it is to be utilised in its kitchen. e next-generation appliance can chop, blend, mix, weigh, knead, cook and steam - it e ectively replaces a blender, food processor and other kitchen devices. Headteacher Anne Moir said: “This is absolutely incredible. It will make such a difference to us, and the children will directly benefit in such a big way.” Home manager Rebecca Hannam visited the school to present the ermomix in person. She was joined by two Court Lodge residents, Joan Bicknell and Pat Jones. e donation was made following a concert by the all-female choir Encanta, attended by the school community. Rebecca said: “At Court Lodge, supporting our local community is at the heart of what we do. We’ve enjoyed a strong and positive relationship with South Baddesley School for many years, and we were delighted to take part in their recent fundraising raffle by purchasing £25 worth of tickets. To our surprise, we won the grand prize - a brand-new Thermomix. Our chefs had actually been hoping to get one for some time to enhance the meals we prepare for our residents, and coincidentally, we had purchased one just a few months earlier. In the spirit of generosity and community support, we Headteacher Anne Moir with care home residents Joan Bicknell and Pat Jones, and a group of Year R children from South Baddesley School – and the Thermomix Youngsters Raise Money For Calshot RNLI On Saturday 26th July, Calshot RNLI hosted their Annual Open Day, welcoming a large number of visitors to the station, where they enjoyed a wide range of homemade sweet and savoury treats, whilst learning about the life saving work that the volunteers undertake. Reiss and Lucas have saved all the small change that they have accumulated from days out and decided to donate it to Calshot RNLI.” Calshot RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, Mike Atwell added: “We are incredibly grateful to Reiss and Lucas for their generosity, as a charity we rely on donations to allow us to continue to save lives at sea across our patch. Maybe one day in the future they may be equally inspired to come and join us as volunteer crew!” e Open Day raised a total of £1,480. e next big event was the Annual Ra Race which was held at Hythe Marina on 24th August.
