If you saw the Group’s excellent display of artwork, or you visited any of the other venues, you might have been inspired to pick up a pen, pencil or paintbrush. Waterside Art Group is an informal gathering providing a welcoming and supportive place for anyone who likes to paint or draw. Its ethos is to be inclusive, open to anyone whether they’re new to art or an experienced artist, and it o ers a relaxed environment to enjoy painting and drawing without the pressure of following a lesson. ere will also be a demonstration evening (open to all) and a workshop (for members) this autumn. e Group meets on Tuesday evenings, 7pm-9pm, at Hythe and Dibden Community Centre in Brinton Lane, o Jones Lane, Hythe SO45 6DU. Membership of this friendly group costs just £65 a year, which gives members the chance to attend weekly meetings and to show and sell their artwork at the Group’s summer exhibition. Or if you prefer not to commit to Waterside Craft Club Waterside Cra Club continues to meet every Thursday, 12.30pm–3pm at the Hythe Sea Scouts Hut on Shore Road in Hythe. Each session costs £5 including all materials and activities, or £2 if you bring your own project and join the Social Table. Two hot drinks and biscuits are included in every session. Jane Austen in Southampton BROCKENHURST MUSIC SOCIETY Brockenhurst Music Society’s 78th season concludes on Monday 15th September with e Portrait Players - Claire Ward (soprano), Kriistina Watt (lute, theorbo) and Miriam Nohl (cello, viola da gamba) will perform works by Dowland, Purcell, Johnson and contemporaries exploring songs inspired by Shakespeare and bringing that era to life for a modern audience. e concert will be held at St Saviour’s Church in Brockenhurst at 7pm.
