Losing these means losing wildlife too – pollinating insects (vital – ironically - for farming), and the birds and small mammals that feed on the insects, grass or owers. Finding remnant meadow habitats lets us care for them e ectively, creating hotspots from which species can spread again. Churchyards are such spaces - unploughed and unsprayed – sometimes for 900 years or more. e 3 acre churchyard at All Saints Fawley has a newly formed “churchyard volunteer team” to manage the site for people (access to graves) and wildlife. On our rst monthly meeting (3rd August) 16 volunteers cut, strimmed, raked, laid woodchip paths and even contributed data to the Big Butter y Count. By building on the core work of our knowledgeable contractors, Alan, Lorna and Megan Davies, we maximise our impact. It’s a friendly, mixed age group (8 to 80s) with energy, initiative and commitment. If that sounds like your sort of company, nd out more at: tinyurl.com/ AllSaintsEco Newly created woodchip path to improve access September Fair at St John’s Hythe from The Parish of Hythe Don’t forget that our September Fair is happening on Saturday 6th September between 10am and 1pm.
