For the rst time this year BHGC juniors entered a team of ve into a National Knockout competition (Harry, Harry, Charlie, George and Jimmy). ere were 128 teams entered from all over the country. e team beat Chippenham in the rst round and then Royal Winchester A in round two. In the round of 32, BHGC were drawn against the other Royal Winchester team and unfortunately lost. So much to be proud of and a fantastic achievement. Hampshire Golf Union organise an annual county team competition called “Green Jackets”. In 2024 BHGC Juniors were surprised at qualifying for the Final’s day where they came 4th. Harry, Jimmy, Jackson, Charlie and Ben were massively excited with their achievement. In 2025 BHGC Juniors entered another team; Jackson, Ben and Charlie and reached the Final’s day again having beaten Brookwood, Hartney Whitney, and Rowlands Castle in the qualifying rounds. Although the team lost the morning round to the eventual winners (Lee on the Solent), they beat Peters eld 78-76 in the a ernoon to come third overall. A fantastic achievement reaching the nal two years in-a-row! Congratulations all! The Annual Junior County Championships organised by Hampshire Golf Union took place in July. Congratulations to Charlie Ship of BHGC Juniors who came second in the U12s with the winner coming from Wellow Golf Club. It was a tough round of golf as play was initially delayed for a thunderstorm! BHGC Juniors has also experienced success in friendly competitions played against Wellow and Bramshaw. ese friendly events give the younger and newer golfers an opportunity to experience a ‘match’ or two. Linda Compton, BHGC junior organiser plans to organise more friendlies next year in order to have even more match opportunities for BHGC talented and keen young golfers. How to get involved If you have a child under 18 who is interested in playing golf, BHGC run junior club nights on a Wednesday evening from 4.30pm onwards from March until the end of September. Fun golf tuition is held on the driving range and both the 18 and 9-hole courses at Dibden Golf Centre. Golf isn’t just played in the Summer and a range of sessions are organised over the Winter months too.
