Kathy’s painting in acrylic on canvas represents very cleverly the simple pleasure of relaxing at the seaside, capturing a moment in time when bright sunlight creates intriguing shadows through the deck chairs. Careful details meticulously painted, such as the shoe and the handbag resting on the pebbles, give the viewer small glimpses of the two characters and add to the intrigue. e Group’s exhibition, which was held as part of the Hampshire Open Studios week in August, welcomed 500 visitors and received a great deal of positive feedback. “Thank you for a wonderful community exhibition,” wrote one visitor; “Amazing local talent. Very professional. Enjoyed it all,” wrote another. Lots of comments were made about the diversity of subjects and media, as well as the artists’ skills and creativity. Waterside Art Group is an informal gathering providing £65 a year, which gives members the chance to attend weekly meetings and to show and sell their artwork at the summer exhibition. Or, for those not wanting to commit to a whole year, they can attend occasional meetings as a non-member for £5 a session (but they won’t have the option to enter the exhibition).
