It was held on the pretty Hinton Admiral Event Field, on the Hinton Admiral Estate near Christchurch. Rich Shirley, one of the main organisers of the festival comments: “We couldn’t have wished for it to have gone any better. The weather was perfect – not too hot as it has been lately – and over the two days we welcomed over 8000 visitors. Guests were able to taste and purchase a huge choice of local produce, and keen amateur cooks were entertained by an assortment of professional chefs in the Cookery Demonstration Tent, sponsored by Hampshire Fare. But while the focus of the festival was food, there were lots of other things to keep young ones entertained for the weekend in our ‘kids’ zone’, with lots going on including a fire-eater, a magician, hair braider and face painter, to name just some. We also welcomed plenty of well-behaved pooches over the weekend, and there were plenty of stalls dedicated to dogs including natural foods, treats, and toys! Finally, the backdrop to the weekend was our marvellous music stage that wouldn’t have looked out of place at any major festival – with a wide variety of talented acts – some of which were local. The whole team deserve a big ‘thank you’ – and a big shout out to our event co-ordinator Jade, who’s organisation made the festival run smoothly. We are already looking forward to next year – in fact we can’t wait!” Hythe Townswomen’s Guild’s next meeting will be on 9th October ‘Flower Arranging’ with Jane Bidwell.
