Funds have been provided by the New Forest District Council: £25,000 from the Community Fund, £200 from the Councillors Fund and £100,000 from the Community Infrastructure Levy. Funds provided by Hampshire County Council include £24,500 from the Leaders’ Fund and £500 from the Councillors Fund. New Forest National Park Authority have awarded £2,000 and East Boldre Parish Council £2,500. A further £100,000 has been awarded by the Community Lottery Fund and £68,300 from the Platinum Jubilee Village Halls Fund. Grants of £5000 have been made by the Beaulieu Beaufort Foundation, £10,000 by the Caroline MontaguWeston Foundation and £10,000 from the Charles Burnett Foundation. A donation of £5,000 to the hall has been made by a kind and generous individual, Brenda Timms, who used to help run the hall many years ago. Treasurer, Gina Antczak said: “These funds will cover the builder’s costs and more, but if we want to achieve everything on our wish list, we still have more to do. So, we’ll reach out to the local community and to our large following of heritage enthusiasts to appeal to their kind generosity.” e project will transform the hall and make a huge modernised, refurbished and much better equipped. e WCs will be modernised and refurbished with additional toilets. Cushioned ooring in the theatre hall and mirrors will make the hall a great place for tness and dance classes. e stage facilities will be upgraded with AV for lm, theatre and talks. ere’ll be new, comfortable chairs (as chosen by the community) and easy-to-move chair and table storage trolleys. Chair, Mike Husband said: “We are thankful to the volunteers for their help. They have donated a lot of their time to this project; – a focus group, headed by Stuart Newey, have given the trustees invaluable help and advice on the new kitchen, decor, etc. Rebecca Gabdzyl is selling unwanted hall items to raise more funds. And we’ve received kind offers to help with clearing the hall, the kitchen refit, carpentry, decorating and more. Thank you also to all the hall users who are managing the disruption so well. We know that the waiting will be worth it. The hall will feel warmer, lighter, more comfortable, user-friendly and above all, more welcoming. We look forward to inviting everyone back when the hall re-opens.” e hall is expected to re-open in January 2026.
