MUSIC IN ROMSEY e next concert in Romsey Abbey will be on Saturday 8th November, 7.30pm, for Rachmanino Vespers with Romsey Choral Society. A magni cent example of Russian Orthodox sacred choral music, composed in just 2 weeks, resulting from a culmination of interest in Russian sacred music spanning two decades. As with all traditional Russian church music, it is performed a cappella as instruments were not allowable in Orthodox services. Although in uenced by Tchaikovsky’s earlier sacred music, Rachmanino ’s use of harmony and textual variety is unique and rich. On Saturday 15th November, 7pm will be Viva Concerto! with Nova Foresta Philharmonic. Hear two of the greatest concertos ever written, in one special evening of live music. Soloists Rose Gosney and Valentina Seferinova showcase two masterpieces of the concerto repertoire.
