In a rare opportunity, original artworks created during last year’s and this year’s Waterside Arts Festival will go under the hammer, including pieces by several renowned cartoonists and our very own, Simon Chadwick. ese unique illustrations, drawn live at the festival, capture the energy and humour of the event, and now you have the chance to own one. Every winning bid supports Waterside Arts, helping us to continue delivering the annual festival with its eclectic mix of live music, art, cartooning, cra s and community celebration. Alongside the auction comes Charlotte’s muchloved Quirky Quiz – a general knowledge quiz with a di erence. Dickens - the Best and the Worst Hythe & Dibden U3A meet at Hythe Parish Hall on the second Monday of the month at 2pm. e next meeting takes place on Monday 10th November for a talk titled ‘Dickens - the Best and the Worst’, by Brian and Jacqueline Sutton. TABLE TOP SALES Every 2 weeks on a Tuesday morning from 9.30am to 12noon there’s a great TABLE TOP SALE at Cornerstone Hythe URC in New Road. ere’s always a great selection of electrical items, jewellery, collectables, kitchenware, glassware, bags, toys, brica-brac, a great many jigsaw puzzles and an extensive library of paperback books, CDs and DVDs. Co ee, tea and biscuits are always available in the Foyer too. All proceeds go to the Cornerstone Building Repairs Fund. e next sale is Tuesday 11th November. Husky Racing Ashurst WI is an active and growing institute, where members can look forward to an interesting programme of talks and events throughout the year. e next meeting takes place on Wednesday 12th November for a talk by Brian Gillet titled ‘Husky Racing’. For more details email: ashurstsec@hampshirewi. org.uk Solent Concert Orchestra to Play in Hythe e Solent Concert Orchestra (SCO) are a group of talented and enthusiastic amateur musicians who have been regularly putting on concerts in the Solent area for over 30 years. eir repertoire ranges from well-loved classical symphonic works and concertos, to shorter pieces from all periods covering many di erent musical genres. e orchestra makes a welcome return to Hythe for their next concert at Cornerstone, Hythe United Reformed Church on Saturday 15th November at 3pm, when they will be giving a delightful a ernoon Autumn Concert of “Moonlight and Masquerades”. Please note particularly that the start time is 3pm in the a ernoon. e programme includes Lalo Cello Concerto, Coleridge-Taylor Ballade, Debussy Petite Suite Clare De Lune, Fauré Masques et Bergamasques, Mendlessohn Symphony No. 4 (Italian) movements 2 and 3, and Traditional Plyve Kacha. A delightful concert not to be missed! Proceeds from the concert will go to the New Forest Basics Bank providing stop-gap support to people through troubled times and the Cornerstone Building Repairs Fund.
