Consultation with the Hythe Pier Company Limited (owner of Hythe Pier) and the Hythe and Southampton Ferry Company Limited currency. Individual donations can be made via the organisation’s website: www.hythepierha.org.uk Carriage restoration in progress (Credit: Tina Brown) (owners of the Hythe-Southampton Ferry) is ongoing to best provide its support and expertise. Restoration of the oldest continually operating electric train on a pier, which is owned by HPHA has continued, with volunteers from the Hythe Shed (at the Pier) providing their own expertise to bring the rst of the two driving carriages dating from 1923 back to its original condition whilst using as much of the original material as is possible. Work has also started on the rebuilding of the luggage truck, which is even older, dating from 1909. e truck was rst used on the pier, manually propelled along sunken tracks on the opposite side to the current rails thirteen years prior to the opening of the electrically operated Hythe Pier Railway. Raising the necessary funds to maintain its objectives is a perpetual task. HPHA acknowledges the generous donations from local companies, organisations and individuals that have allowed it to have another successful year. Rock the Pier, despite the wet weather, was a roaring success, raising £4200. HPHA is extremely grateful to its main sponsor of this event, the Scratch Project, and to the other sponsors and the performers, all of whom gave their time for free. Among other notable donations was one from the Hythe Wives Club which made HPHA its charity of the year. e Herald o ce collected and donated £1,636 in foreign
