Based in the heart of the New Forest, the choir rehearse at St Michael and All Angels’ Church in Lyndhurst on Monday evenings, 7pm – 8.30pm, performing regularly in towns throughout the New Forest. is friendly fun committed choir sing a wide range of a capella songs and perform regular concerts throughout the year. eir repertoire covers a wide range of traditional and folk songs from the UK and across the world. Musical Director (MD) Phil is a dynamic widely acclaimed musician who boasts a mind-boggling catalogue of career achievements: as concert cellist, competition winner, MD for several choirs (currently Lymington Choral Society and Choralia Milford); he is also founder and Artistic Director of the professional orchestra Nova Foresta Classical Players; and is a central gure in musical movements across the New Forest. His passion is to keep live classical music vibrant and accessible to local people in this beautiful part of the world. Everyone is welcome to join Voices of the Forest, men, women, seasoned singers and beginners. e rst three sessions are completely free. ey are a friendly choir and although singing is what primarily brings them together they also like to socialise. Some members have been with the choir for years and good friendships have formed through rehearsing, performing and socialising together. Voices of the Forest is an adult choir who are keen to promote talented children and young musicians from across the New Forest. Member David Mead presents his visit to the Oporto area of “Northern Portugal in 1976”. is was in the closing months of steam traction both on the narrow gauge and Iberian gauge lines including the suburban routes and Douro Valley. Many of the lines to get shown have now long closed. A er the interval, Member Jol Bates presents pictures of “Railways Around the World”. A journey around the globe for business and pleasure, remembered through photographs taken over the past thirty years from New Zealand to North America. Visitors welcome. £6 on the door. Family History Group A small group of passionate Family historians, who love helping those who are interested in tracing their family history meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30pm in the back room at Soul Café, North Road, Dibden Purlieu, SO45 4PG. ey are a mixture of those who have been researching for years and those who are new to the fascinating world of family history. ere is so much more information now to be obtained online, not all of it being subscription based. Create a decorative piece of work of your own design combining contact/nature printing, lino stamps, frottage, Indian ink drawing and stitch on to a material base. Material, thread, stamps, and ink will be provided (non-washable ink).
