Two long tables were set up, the sta were excellent and coped well with the inevitable who ordered what 3 months previously. In addition the partners/wives and husbands provided extra chatter and yes, gossip – the perfect Club Christmas. At the rst club meeting of 2026 the Chairman set out a few extra location proposals for spring and summer morning meet-ups, including Sammy Miller’s motorcycle museum, and a Beaulieu river trip. e daylight morning meetings on the last Thursday of the month are proving popular among members and partners, especially as one avoids the inclement weather encountered at the rst evening meeting. Whinwhistle Fisheries cafe the venue for the February morning meeting. Evening meetings take place the 2nd Thursday of the month, 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start at Netley Marsh Community Hall, Woodlands Road, SO407GE. If you wish to visit club night, please make yourself known to Pete the Chairman, and take along a mug! e 2026 programme of evening/morning entertainments is being nalised, more information next time. In the early evening, residents, families, and sta gathered outside to welcome the much-loved charity re engine - a highlight of the festive calendar that brought joy, nostalgia, and a real sense of community to the home. e visit was one of several seasonal events organised by Everwood Care Charity, which runs Little Haven and Heartland Manor care homes in the New Forest. Other activities over the Christmas period included a Carousel eatre pantomime of Cinderella, live performances from Aimi Percival, Kerry Le Bern, and Jon Rowdy, and a sta Christmas choir accompanied by mulled wine and mince pies. “We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Waterside Christmas Fire Engine for so generously giving their time to visit us,” said Katie Biddlecombe, CEO of Everwood Care Charity. “This is one of the true highlights of the year for our residents, bringing together families, staff, and the wider community as one big Everwood family.
