Our main remit is still to search for and rescue vulnerable missing people on behalf of the police, but we have expanded our capability to include assisting the Local Resilience Forum and the Fire and Rescue Service with our water, drone, medical and foot teams when possible. Whilst this Callout number is obviously a milestone in our search and rescue journey, it is by no means intended as a glori cation of what we volunteers do. But it does let us re ect on those we have tried to help over the years, the team members who served and retired and the ongoing invaluable support we receive from our families. We, like all the Search and Rescue teams, wish we did not need to be called because it means someone is in trouble or a family is traumatised. But when there is a need we willingly step-up – and will continue to do so. Hampshire Search and Rescue vehicles Bank and river search THEY MADE THE TRIP! Shoe boxes collected for the Wessex Rotary Shoebox Appeal have arrived at their destinations. Hythe & Waterside Rotary (H&W) support this project every year, and collect gi lled shoeboxes from the local community before transporting them to the regional depot for sorting and dispatch. H&W Rotary were delighted to receive a rst report email from the Rotary Club TEKA in Romania: “It was yet again a very successful project, most of our active members were involved and we managed to bring smiles on the faces of thousands of children in need. We are very sorry that you and all the lovely people involved in the project at your end don’t get to see and feel all the joy your efforts are bringing. So please let me convey the many thanks and all the gratitude received from children, their parents, teachers, priests, caregivers, childcare workers and school personnel. May God bless all of you with help and happiness”. The children in Romania receiving their shoeboxes
