Over the past four decades Rainbow Trust has provided practical and deep emotional support for entire families facing the unimaginable prospect that their child may die. From the moment of diagnosis, their expert Family Support Workers provide tailored support to each family’s evolving needs, working alongside professional services and helping create cherished moments together. Starting in 1986 with one compassionate woman, Bernadette Cleary, supporting a friend whose daughter was diagnosed with terminal cancer, Rainbow Trust has continued to grow to be a trusted national provider of vital children’s social palliative care delivered by highly trained Family Support Workers. As demand grows, Rainbow Trust is focused on expanding reach while maintaining the quality and care that has de ned the charity for 40 years. Zillah Bingley, Rainbow Trust’s Chief Executive says; “Our strength lies in providing consistent, compassionate and tailored care to families coping with the most challenging of times - no other UK service provides such truly family-focused support. At Rainbow Trust we understand how a child’s serious illness affects not just the child but parents, siblings and extended family too and, without the right support, the trauma can be lifelong. We were established in 1986 by Bernadette in her kitchen and 40 years later we are still supporting families around their kitchen tables. As we look to the future, our commitment remains the same: no family should face serious childhood illness alone. Please donate if you are able or take part in one of our many events throughout the year celebrating our 40 years of care.” Rainbow Trust has nine care teams of Family Support Workers including locally in Southampton. ere are many ways that you can get involved to help Family Support Worker Jayne with Ellis the Rainbow Trust, including: fundraising, volunteering, philanthropy, leaving a legacy in your Will, setting up a tribute fund in memory of a loved one, or set up payroll giving each month, for more information visit: www.rainbowtrust.org. uk/get-involved To nd out more about Rainbow Trust or to make a donation visit: www.rainbowtrust.org. uk The Birth of Southampton e Lordshill and Lordswood Historical Society meet on the second Thursday of the month, 10.30am - 12noon in the lounge of Manston Court, Lordshill, SO16 8HF.
