Telling the story of a London family, the Harrisons from 1939 until 1945, the novel was printed in hardback, and the large print copies are still popular in libraries. A ctitious novel, Janey’s War is not a biography, although some of the events happened to Barbara or people she knew. Her second book ‘A Restless Peace’, published the following year, continued the story of Jane Harrison until Coronation Day in 1953. Before becoming a novelist, Barbara was a secretary for an advertising agency, and then, a job which she remembers with great a ection, secretary to the editor of ‘Home Notes’ and ‘Modern Woman’ magazine, then part of the Women’s Own Group in London. Marriage and raising a family brought Barbara to Hampshire, where once her children had grown, she could spend more time learning writing skills and as a long-time member of the Waterside Writers’ Circle, nding the constructive criticism very helpful and enjoying the eclectic mix of members who are very supportive of each other; as well as her other hobby of music and theatre, and Barbara was an accompanist with Waterside eatre Group for many years. Barbara Murphy Barbara, now in her 90th year, has produced an additional three novels also available in large print and some also on audio. Barbara is pleased to announce that ‘Time With A Gi of Tears’ is now also available as an e-book on Kindle.
