Rufus is extremely well trained and very obedient. He knows all his house manners and is a very a ectionate, loving boy and in great health. He loves nothing more than time with humans, cuddles, learning new things, walks, toys and Food! Rufus is not so keen on cats and some other dogs though. He has been patiently waiting now for his forever home for 6 months and we are desperate for Rufus to nally nd his golden basket and have a permanent home to call his own. He is in foster care in Dibden presently. All the volunteers love Rufus, he is a smashing boy but lacks con dence with some other dogs so a home all to his self would be great for him. FOREVER HOME NEEDED Dogs2FosterUK care for dogs in need who have been mistreated, abandoned or that require rehoming as they are not living in the right environment and their needs are not being met by their current owners. Since the last edition of e Herald, they have found forever homes for many of their boys and girls including Molly, Sheldon, Dipstick, Donna and Domino. ey would like to thank the local dog loving community and adopters for their continued support. If you would like to register to adopt or foster a dog now or in the future, please get in touch. ey work very hard on matching the right dog with the right adopter. Dogs2FosterUK would love to hear from experienced dog owners who could foster a dog; they ask for a three-month commitment only and cover all expenses. Fostering is very hard work and requires a lot of time and commitment but is a fantastic way to really get involved and do something very worthwhile. ey o er a rehoming service to owners who have had a change in circumstances which can include nancial di culties, ill health, bereavement, housing di culties etc. is is a preventative service to support owners rehome their dogs safely instead of owners using unsafe multi- media sites like Gumtree and Facebook. ey are happy to support any owner in need of this service, it’s free, they do not judge and all information is dealt with in the strictest of con dence. If you would like to help the dogs and support the dog sanctuary project you can make a donation on the website or send a cheque payable to Dogs2FosterUK to 2 Peartree Cottage, Main Road, Marchwood, SO40 4US. Any amount is always gratefully received as are donations of dog equipment. ey are also preparing for their winter fundraiser and would love any donations of new, unused prizes for the ra e and tombola; also they would love to hear from any local businesses that wish to donate a prize or two. Funds are always needed for the dogs so donations of any sort are always very much appreciated. Unfortunately, there isn’t storage for bric-a-brac at present. It is supported by all the organisations on the New Forest Dogs Forum. Help keep the National Park clean • Pick up a er your dog wherever you are, especially where people walk, play, park or picnic. • Put bagged dog poo in a dog bin or litter bin, or take it home. Stay safe and keep dogs under effective control • Wherever you are in the New Forest, you must ensure that your dog does not chase or attack livestock, deer or any other wildlife. Keep your dog close to you and in sight at all times – if necessary use a lead. • Keep your dog to the main tracks when birds are nesting on the ground (usually March – July). • roughout the year, prevent your dog from disturbing birds on the coast. • Keep well away from any work taking place and observe warning signage. • Dogs must be under close control when on a public right of way (for example through farmland); keep them on the path and do not allow them to stray onto adjacent land. Be considerate to other forest users • Keep your dog from jumping up at or approaching other people, especially children. • Keep dogs away from picnics, horse riders and cyclists, and prevent excessive barking. • Show respect for other dogs (especially timid ones); if an approaching dog is on a lead, put yours on a lead too. • Be especially careful to keep groups of dogs under e ective control. • Consider moving aside to let other walkers, cyclists and horse riders past. • If you cannot reliably and quickly call your dog back to you and away from people or other dogs, please keep it on a lead.
