Yet again the hall was lled with owers and vegetables of every shape and size. e Dahlias were dazzling with colour, the Chrysanthemums and general owers beautiful, although the hot and dry weather made a lot of owers go over very quickly they still had an amazing display. e fruit entries were a little down but the vegetables were excellent, stealing the show was the collection of vegetables with some enormous leeks and onions. e oral art classes were fewer this show but still a stricking display with Pat Rogers winning the Jubilee Tray and the Mayzes Vase for her best in that section. parsnips and the the Hayson Cup for most points in show. e children’s section under ves, a witches garden on a plate was won by Betsy Munford, second Albert Osman third Charlie Rogers . e ve to eight year olds was won by Autumn Goy and Lyla Munford was second. The over eights Halloween poem was won by Evie Goy . e a ernoon was a very enjoyable one with lots of lovely tea and cakes, the Tombola stall did very well as did the plant stall. eir President Jim Osman did very well winning the Chairman’s cup and the Blundell Cup for his Chrysanthemums and the Banksian Medal for most prize money in the show. Tony Ashford won the Gordon Cup for his stunning Dahlias, Derrick Fulker won the Egerton cup for most points in General owers and pot plant section, Sandra Hodson won the Fuchsia Shield for a lovely display of Fuchsias, Malvin Ward won the Rose Ireland Trophy for most Vera Blundell presented the prizes at the end of the show nishing a very successful a ernoon, they look forward to seeing you at their spring summer and autumn shows next year you can nd information about these and any of their monthly meeting on their website www.tottongardeners.org points in the fruit section and the Eling cup for most points in the Vegetables which included 4 long Bargain Plant Sell Off at New Forest Charity Garden Keen gardeners are in for a treat this autumn as Furzey Gardens in Minstead is hosting an end of year plant sale. e plant sale which started on Monday 21st October and is open from 10am to 4.30pm every day until Sunday 27th October , selling hardy perennials and quality shrubs. Furzey Gardens is part of Minstead Trust, a charity supporting people with learning disabilities to live more independent and ful lled lives. All the plants have been nurtured by the learning disability team in the nursery at Furzey, who learn skills that will help them towards greater independence. Visitors to the plant sales can also enjoy free entry to the shop and thatched tea room, which serves light lunches, cream teas and barista co ee. e tea room also provides training and employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities. Sue Edser, Plant Nursery Instructor, said: “Autumn is the perfect time to plant shrubs and hardy perennials, including fuchsias, geums and penstemon. So grab this opportunity to stock up your garden at discount prices with all our quality plants at half price.
