Apparently the collective noun for a number of Wombles is a ‘love’ because they just love the beautiful area that they live in. Wombles want to keep their home area in its best condition for all the species that they share it with. It’s not just about being prissy because litter looks untidy, it stems from an understanding of the harm that non- biodegradable waste does when le to accumulate. ankfully the majority of people would never drop litter but unfortunately, there is a minority that does. e group meet at di erent locations (look out for the purple horse lorry), all the equipment is provided and garden ‘trugs’ on wheels carry the heavy litter, which is sorted at the end into general or recyclable waste and le at a pre-arranged spot with the NFDC Street Scene team, who collect it the next day. e next dates are: Saturday 4th April 10am until 12noon. Clean New Forest meeting at Applemore. Wednesday 8th April at 2pm. Calshot area. Exact location TBC. Sunday 19th April at 11am. Meet at Old Mill Pub car park, Holbury to do all the woodland walks in that area that border and lead onto the forest. is is a good one for children and dogs. Wellies essential! Everyone is very welcome, it is good exercise, lots of fun and totally upli ing to be around other such positive folk spending just a couple of hours (or less) doing something so worthwhile. ere is no formal membership but you are not insured either. You pick at your own risk! If you know of an area in the Waterside that is a mess and needs the attention of the Waterside Wombles, please contact them via Facebook and they will do their best to schedule that area in. Keep up to date with the Wombles on Facebook @ Waterside Wombles Hampshire or via the website www.watersidewombles.com NEW LIFE JACKETS Hythe and Waterside Rotary President Jim Whitehouse was delighted to present replacement life jackets to the Chairman of Solent Dolphin, Captain Nigel Bassett, for use on the m/s Alison MacGregor. e new life jackets are self in ating and will replace the original ones that had reached the end of their serviceable life.
