Did you drive or know someone who did drive the train? If you have a story, however brief, he’d love to hear it and possibly include it. e pier train tractors are already over a century old. e Hythe Pier Railway was introduced in July 1922. An older image of Hythe Pier train Since the publication of his book ‘Hythe Pier and Ferry – A History’ in May 2019, Alan Titheridge has been engaged in further research, preparation and now the writing of a book about the Hythe Pier train. Whilst the new book will be a smaller volume, he aims for it to be a most comprehensive narrative with as many photographs, both historic and up to date, as possible. He would like to include a section to include personal anecdotes and reminiscences of the train over the years. Did you journey down the pier to catch the ferry for a special occasion?
