Pilot projects by the organisation have attracted participants from Bournemouth, Salisbury and Southampton and demonstrated the popularity and practicality of the courses which recycle unwanted bikes and provide participants with new skills, improved con dence levels and access to the local cycling network. Attendees can keep the refurbished bikes too, increasing independence, encouraging exercise and improving overall well-being as well as improving self-esteem. Hythe Townswomens Guild and chats. All are welcome to their friendly, active group. ItwasHytheTownswomens Guild’s 53rd Annual General meeting. ey had the usual reports from the di erent sections, stating they had a busy social year with visits to gardens and morning co ee, both out and about and in members houses, also some very interesting speakers. ey nished up with tea/co ee, biscuits and a good catch up with members. Their next meeting is Thursday 9th April with John Sherbourne talking about the music of Cole Porter. eir competition that a ernoon is to make cakes and auction them. Thursday 14th May sees a special guest which is a talk by Nelson Mandela’s body guard, this is open to the general public for a fee of £5. e time for this is 2pm. eir usual Social Studies, Skittles and Art Groups are active, the walking group are waiting for the warmer weather! Seven members have just spent 4 days in Bournemouth with other groups of the area, they had a group singing which they all danced to, a Barber Shop Choir, a Murder Mystery A ernoon, and a lovely lady from the Salvation Army telling them of the work they do, she had many stories to tell. e food and service was very good, and it was especially nice to meet ladies from other Townswomen’s Guild groups. They meet every 2nd ursday of the month at St Andrews Centre Dibden Purlieu at 2.30pm for talks
