Followed on Saturday 16th May for Liam McNamara ‘Exploring the Dynastic Town And Temple Enclosure At Hierakonpolis’. e town mound of ancient Nekhen (Hierakonpolis) is renowned for the fabulous discoveries made there by James Quibell and Frederick Green in 1897- 99, including the spectacular ‘Main Deposit’ of early votive objects. is lecture will explore the history and development of the site, as well as the results of a recent survey in the temple enclosure. e Society meets from 1.30pm for a 2pm start, at the Oasis Academy, Lordshill, in a comfortable, modern and welcoming environment, with disabled access and ample on-site parking. For more details contact the Secretary on 07729 627901 or email: saesinfo55@gmail.com Ancient Egypt Quiz Night A quiz night is being held at Bartley Village Hall on Saturday 18th April at 7.30pm. e evening is being organized by Explorer Scout Alaric Littleton-Gray to help him raise funds to take part in a trip to e Gambia at the end of the year. is bi-annual trip, led by Explorer Scout leaders, Jackie Heath and Paul Stubbington, is to the Kaira Konka Lodge which supports small local community projects. Whilst there the Explorer Scouts will be involved with ongoing projects. It is a team quiz but will include some individual ‘Egghead’ style rounds. A maximum of 6 people per team at £5 person including a ploughmans supper. Feel free to take your own drinks although tea and co ee will be available during the evening.
