FOREVER HOME NEEDED Holly is is Holly, a beautiful Springer Spaniel aged 8 years. Holly is lovely with cats, dogs, young children and people. She is clever, loving and good in the home. Holly’s owner was too unwell to care for her any longer, she has come from a very loving local home and we are looking for the same for this super girl. ANIMAL MAGIC It is estimated that one in four people own a dog in the New Forest, many are owners of a certain age categorised by the government as ‘vulnerable’ and not all have access to the internet to order essential items. With the government proposing that people in this category self-isolate for prolonged periods of time (up to four months) it is essential that owners who have no support consider what will happen to their pets particularly if they are hospitalised. erefore, we are co-ordinating emergency help for owners and their beloved dogs should they have no support from family, friends and neighbours. is can be owners of any age but the most vulnerable will be prioritised. Please try to prepare your pets by checking when your pets need their vaccinations, worm, ea treatments or medication and act now. Also, make sure they have a good supply of food and bedding for the coming months. It is also important to write down what your dog eats, any health or behavioural requirements they may have including vaccination record, medication and dosage and keep this together with their veterinary health record somewhere easily located in the kitchen in case of an emergency. We have a sample form on our website that owners are welcome to use. We will try to o er assistance by: • Dog walking. • Fostering your dog should you need to go into hospital. • Feeding and cleaning tasks. • Purchasing food for your dog if you are unable to go out. • Taking your dog to the vets for treatment. If you want to help, please contact us. We estimate there will be thousands of pets needing help if their owners are too sick to care for them so we are asking for volunteers to see us through this busy time. Everyone can do something, so if you have a neighbour with a pet, o er to help should they get sick, or pass on our details. Could you care for a dog in your home for a few weeks if someone was admitted to hospital? Volunteers can be any age and for people who feel isolated, looking a er a dog is great companionship, we would provide help with walking if necessary. Could you help by ordering and delivering pet food or walking, feeding, grooming, toileting or by taking a pet to the vets?
