Without the formal ceremony taking place Ray takes over from immediate past President Jim Whitehouse. “Obviously, like all other clubs and societies, we miss having our regular meetings ” says Ray. “Not only for the business side of Rotary but for the friendship and social interaction which we all enjoy. Of course I hope things will improve early into my presidential year, but in the meantime we plan to have regular online meetings so that we may continue to serve the local community the best we can. Thank goodness for modern technology!” is will be Ray’s second time as Hythe & Waterside Rotary Club President. He was previously club President in 2006 – 2007. The Rotary “Show” Must Go On! President Ray Lewis 2020-21 HYTHE MARINA CHARITABLE DONATIONS TO COMMUNITY e ladies and men at Hythe Marina and the local U3A have been producing PPE for their local hospitals, care homes, GP practices and schools since 14th April. More than 3,000 items of masks and aprons from duvet covers and sheets, plastic aprons and gowns from bin bags, headbands and ear protectors have been sewn and donated. Alongside the items, they have raised £2,400 in Justgiving contributions for their sewing needs and now will donate the surplus to three local charities - e Waterside Women’s Refuge, the Oakhaven Hospice and Black eld Food Bank. e enthusiasm and high energy levels from this group have been astonishing, determined to provide their local NHS Team with the protective clothing they deserved to feel safe doing their jobs during this crisis.
