When it does become safe for their activities to recommence they will, of course, inform members directly. ere may well be people who have become involved in art matters to occupy themselves during the enforced lockdown and are looking for somewhere to continue their art in a welcoming, sociable environment. Waterside Art Group is certainly that place and therefore when it is appropriate they will announce their reopening here in the Herald and also on their highly informative website watersideartgroup.co.uk e website includes their comprehensive programme of events such as painting evenings and demonstrations. ey are hoping that they will be active again in the autumn when they will host demonstrations on Exploring Art Abstraction of a Seascape in acrylics and oils; Pen, Line and Wash; and Pastels and Coloured Pencils. Meanwhile, as Chairman Peter York says: “During this unfortunate period when we are unable to meet up for our normal art activities, members have been encouraged to continue their art at home and to utilise the vast array of tutorials available online. They have risen to the suggestion to share their artistic efforts and messages online. Inevitably, we will not be able to hold our August Exhibition or to create our A painting by a member who joined an online art course 2021 calendar of local images but we will be making a super effort to hold the best ever exhibition next year and a 2022 calendar.” e Waterside Art Group joins the millions around the country in being so grateful to all those who have put themselves at risk, sometimes fatally, to provide the myriad of essential services to enable us to continue to live our lives as normally as possible. eir thoughts are with the thousands of families who have been bereaved as a consequence of Covid-19. As summertime o cially gets underway, Hampshire County Council is sending a clear message to its countryside visitors – please respect our fantastic outdoor spaces for the bene t of all. Councillor Seán W o o d w a r d , Executive Member for Recreation and Heritage at Hampshire County Council, said: “Hampshire’s wonderful outdoors, beautiful countryside and stunning coast are there for everyone to enjoy this summer. With many vacations further afield on hold, more people are likely to start exploring their local landscapes and all Hampshire has to offer, so we are expecting increased numbers at some of Hampshire’s popular visitor spots. Therefore, it’s really important we remember that these are places for all of us to enjoy, and we need to look after them. So please, park responsibly, take your litter home, and leave each beauty spot as you would wish to find it next time. In order to keep everyone safe, we ask that visitors keep following the Government’s guidelines on safe social distancing. This includes parking in designated car parks and on street where parking is provided. Civil enforcement officers will be patrolling known problem areas to ticket those vehicles parked illegally, to ensure safety on the roads for all who use them.” H a m p s h i r e ’ s Countryside Service is also urging visitors to be respectful of the local environment by following the Countryside Code when using public rights of way. e County Council’s Executive Member for Countryside and Rural Affairs, Councillor Edward Heron, added : “We should all continue to use public outdoor spaces and local rights of way sensibly, to follow the Countryside code by leaving no trace of our visits and take all of our litter home. Also, please do not be tempted to use barbecues as they risk causing wildfires. These steps will ensure that our beautiful spaces remain equally unspoilt for visitors and local wildlife habitats. With sunnier days ahead, we also continue to encourage visitors to make their trips outside of peak periods so that everyone can easily enjoy our stunning outdoor locations.” LEAVE ONLY YOUR FOOTPRINTS
