Working with businesses throughout the lockdown period, the LEP has shaped this new loan fund to provide two routes to funding: • Loans of between £250,000 and £1,500,000 for businesses providing an Economic Lifeline and Essential Services, who need bridging nance ahead of accessing other Government support, or for those who need loan nance and cannot access other Government support, such as the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme. • Loan funding of between £100,000 and up to £1,500,000 where other Covid-19 support is not available, or the amount businesses can access is insu cient to deliver their recovery plan. SJ Hunt, a Business Director at the Solent LEP said: “As lockdown measures are eased, it is critical that we look to the future and continue to support our economy through its recovery. This loan fund has been specifically designed to support businesses looking to restart and restore to previous levels of activities. It will allow them not only to survive the crisis, but to lead the Solent’s recovery through implementing their own plans for a sustainable, long-term future.” e new fund follows the launch of the LEPs COVID- 19 Business Support Tool to help businesses develop their road map to restart, restore and recover, and will provide an opportunity to accelerate on their road to recovery. To apply for the funding, businesses must be able to demonstrate that: they have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic; have not been able to access Government support or need additional loan funding to deliver their recovery plan; they can safeguard jobs; and would be in a better position to respond to and recover from the crisis with this loan. Businesses must be located in, and signi cantly contribute to the Solent economy, and must be able to illustrate that they can survive and recover from the Covid-19 pandemic. e loan fund has been structured on a exible basis where repayment holidays can be provided and either zero or low interest rates can be o ered subject to any State Aid bene t considerations and the applicants’ nancial history. Applicants are encouraged to book onto one of the weekly webinars to nd out more and discuss their application before submission using the contact information in section 4 of the Solent LEP Restart, Restore and Recover Loan Fund Guidance document. Leaving the kitchen or living room window open, or even the back door, to allow for some fresh air into the house while you pop out for a short period of time might for some seem tempting, but this could provide an opportunity for someone to take advantage of the situation and commit a crime. Here are some friendly reminders around personal and household security at this time. Most burglaries are committed by opportunists. A criminal may pick a house that looks unoccupied, has le a window or back-gate open or has little or no obvious security. ese are often spur-of-the- moment decisions, made when they see valuables le on view or lapses in security. Car keys, le somewhere obvious can also be an attractive target. By looking at your current level of security you can identify areas for improvement and reduce the risk of becoming the victim of burglary. Walk around your property – if you were locked out, where would you try to get in? Chances are that would also be where a burglar would try. You may also nd that opportunistic burglars will knock at your door to see if you are at home. If they see you are in the back garden and have not heard the door, they will try the front door. Many people are still li ing the door handle but not locking it while they are at home - this is not enough to secure the door and burglars o en enter properties this way. When you shut the door and li the handle the hook bolts are thrown into the locking mechanism in the door frame. By turning the key, then you are locking these hook bolts into place. If you don’t key lock the bolts in place, they can be disengaged by simply pushing down the inside or outside handle. It’s vital that you remember to remove the key and to keep it away from the door out of sight. Remember to LIFT, LOCK and REMOVE. Please do just take that little bit of extra care as we begin to spend more time outside the home. Everyone need to remain vigilant, and to report any crimes which are in progress or where there is a threat to life by calling 999.
