Obviously due to the lockdown, these groups have had to be suspended, along with many of their normal activities, but they are continuing to support the carers as much as possible with regular phone calls or emails. Some of them are struggling really hard in the lockdown with being unable to go out to their regular activities, and evidence shows that lack of social contact can worsen the symptoms of dementia. So they aim to support this very vulnerable group who are shielding, by signposting them to sources of help which are available such as the Waterside Self-Isolation support group and the Hants help 4 vulnerable phoneline. ey have been sending out regular newsletters to as many carers and people with dementia as possible, and o ering them support. ey have also started a scheme of providing care parcels to those in a friendly face in weeks, except the food delivery man. ey are also providing care parcels for families who are struggling to entertain their children during lockdown (several families they know have 4 or 5 children at home) which include food and activities and games for the children. ese have all been donated by their kind volunteers from Cornerstone Church. anks to all who have helped them and please call them on 023 8020 7623 if you are a carer or family who need their help. A thank you message from one of their families: “ I wanted to write to you to say how grateful we are to have you looking out for us. The special treat of flowers and fresh fruit was really appreciated. And to have a face to face conversation with someone who wasn’t a delivery man... Thank you so much for caring.” Last Huddle meeting before lockdown, in March need, delivered to their doorsteps by a cheery volunteer. is has been so much appreciated by their clients and their families. Sometimes they said they have not seen eWessexGlyndebourneAssociation, who organise the performers for Music at Beaulieu’s annual Glyndebourne concert, is working on a project to create a recorded concert that will mirror the sort of performances that everyone would enjoy each year. It is hoped that this will be available by the scheduled concert date of 11th July.
