Celebrating a decade of Cancer Support, WCSC would like to sincerely thank all the people who joined in the vision 10 years ago to create a local Cancer Support Centre that provides vital support to so many people whose lives have been a ected by cancer. To the initial Trustees, the Councillors and Sta at Hythe & Dibden Parish Council, WCSC President Lawrie McMenemy, e Herald sta and the amazingly dedicated team of volunteers – ank you all. With all this heart-warming support, passion and belief they have created a much-needed busy, caring and worthwhile centre where anyone a ected by cancer can get in touch, knowing there will always be someone to listen and o er support. WCSC Celebrates 10th Anniversary by WCSC founder, June Richens SO45 Raises a Hole Lot of Cash On Friday 19th June Michael & Donna Osman of Oyster Financial Planning organised their 8th annual SO45 Charity golf day for eWaterside Cancer Support Centre, played at Dibden Golf Course. e Paul Brogan Memorial Trophy was won by Steve Marwood and will be presented very shortly by Paul Brogan’s father Chris Brogan. It was a very di erent year with many restrictions but they were still able to organise and raise a great amount to the sum of £4,711 which has now been presented. is huge amount despite not being able to hold the ra e, auction and presentation was only possible due to inventive ways to raise money which also saw some cash prize winners and the generosity of all the players and some loyal local businesses that have supported since the start. anks to all the golfers, volunteers and hole sponsors for their magni cent support in what was a very di erent stripped back, COVID-19 a ected day. at’s £80,000 raised so far by SO45 Online of which £35,000 has gone to the cancer centre and the balance of £45,000 going to other local SO45 good causes. Ann McDonald receiving the generous donation from Michael Osman, along with WCSC befrienders Dogs2FosterUK are looking for adopter’s and short-term fosters for their wonderful dogs who have no home to call their own. ey are particularly interested in involving the local older or retired community in their work, because of the proven success they have had with their dogs in the past. eir dogs need company, patience and kindness.
