The packages contained harvest goodies to stimulate all the senses - with things to look at, feel, smell, listen to, taste, and make. Local Harvest produce had been kindly donated, and some of this was also delivered to relatives of those with Dementia who recently have either had to go into a Care Home, or who have sadly died. ey hope everyone enjoyed receiving their packages, and that they brought back some happy memories of autumn and Harvest activities. Greenbuttercup CIC plans to deliver monthly support packages to those with Dementia until they are able to re-start their activity groups. is initiative is being funded by a donation from the John Lewis Partnership’s ‘Your Partners rough It All Community Fund’, which was set up to help those most in need during the pandemic. Hedgerow Harvest Don’t Be Alone People can become socially isolated for a variety of reasons, such as getting older and weaker, younger family members moving away or busy, leaving the workplace, the death of a spouse and friends, or through disability and illness. Older people are especially vulnerable to social isolation, which can have a serious e ect on their health and wellbeing. Local charity, Age Concern New Forest helps local older people to know that they are cared for and valued; supporting them to receive the bene ts they are entitled to; o ering companionship and helping them to make informed decisions about their lives. e team, based at Dibden Purlieu, can arrange for a Volunteer to visit an older person in their own home; the service is aimed at anyone who does not receive regular visitors. Some older people may prefer a regular chat over the telephone to make them feel that they are not forgotten; a Volunteer can arrange to phone on a regular basis. For more information and an appointment, telephone Age Concern New Forest on 023 8084 1199. If the answerphone is on, then leave your name and number and someone will get back to you.
