For a pick me up during these days mixed with grey skies, sunshine, warmth and chill, we have an easy idea to place in your home in an area that will bring you joy. As always, this can be as big or as small as you like. See if you have a crate, rustic box, galvanised storage container… or any vessel you fancy. If you are really stuck, a cardboard box with leaves stuck on the outside and a waterproof dish, old tray from your vegetable shopping can su ce. en nd a selection of jam, mayonnaise, pickle jars, or vases where the height is below the sides of the box, whatever you choose. Decide what you would like to go in your jars: dried foliage, seedheads; silk owers and arti cial foliage; fresh foliage, owers, berries, rose hips etc. If you are feeling really creative, you could spray with spray paint, glitter, why not! en either add water, or not, depending on what you are going to put in each jar, and make little groups of displays in each of the jars. Place them all in the box or large vessel. Make sure you have enough that the jars are snuggled in, but giving a pleasing display. You can ddle around with this as long as you like. If you like, you can mix fresh and dried. You could mix in scented owers like freesias, if you are going for full on Autumn, don’t forget the rustic orange freesias. On a dry day you could pick hydrangea heads and allow them to naturally dry for your display.
