Assisted by Hampshire Search and Rescue Dogs (HSARD) for astonishingly what would be their 100th search in 2020. e 800th Callout is not a cause for celebration nor a reason to glorify what they do. Far from it, but it is a time for re ection, thinking of those they have tried to help over the years, their families and the commitment of the trained volunteers past and present. More recently, due to COVID-19, extra steps have been taken to protect themselves, yet still responding to every request for assistance. ey will continue to do so on behalf of the police and local communities. Like somany charitable organisationHampshire Search and Rescue RELY ENTIRELY ON VOLUNTEERS AND DONATIONS . If you can contribute time or funding please do so via www.hantsar.org. e Friends Project is a new local group which aims to bring people together through arranged meet ups and planned activities in small groups within the community. ey hope to enable opportunities to network and connect with others, make new friends, share skills, hobbies, interests and ideas and generally enjoy the company of other likeminded people. ey hope to meet up once a week, in both Totton and Hythe. Initial co ee meet ups will be in local venues, in small groups of 6, dependent on COVID-19 guidelines. With more and more people spending longer periods of time at home, most will have experienced periods of isolation or low spirits, think how nice it would be to be able to meet up for a walk or bike ride, co ee or a meal, a coach trip, or maybe the cinema - sometimes little things can make a big di erence. e Friends Project aims to bring people together, to do what they can to make a meaningful and positive di erence. So, if you are reading this and it resonates with you or maybe you know someone who may be interested in being involved, please pass this information on, they want to encourage anyone out there to reach out, make a connection, make a di erence & make new friends. Please e-mail them if you are interested in being involved in their new project. Tell them a bit about yourself, your interests, hobbies, ideas etc. Please include a contact number.
