SPORT IN THE HERALD Huge Thanks to Hants Health Care for Rugby Kit Sponsorship The Dinner Cup - Without the Dinner Fawley RFC Juniors are thrilled to accept sponsorship from brilliant local company Hants Health Care. Hants Health Care is a small family owned business who provide care for the elderly and vulnerable in their own homes. eir services support people to maintain their chosen lifestyle. So, they keep you in control and provide you with the home care and support that you want, where and when you want it. e company was started by Moses and Alice Ushamba in 2017. As a company they realise the importance of supporting our local community and charities. Moses and Alice are parents to two young boys Tanaka aged 6 and Tawana aged 9 who love outdoor sports. ey have decided to sponsor Fawley RFC, and their generosity has enabled a team to proudly wear new kit for the 2020 season and beyond. Alice says: “It is our resolve to contribute positively to society and, thus far, the community within which we operate a business and reside in has warmly received my family and I, allowing us a safe environment that all can thrive in. Our children recently joined the club and seem to be enjoying the sport and sessions.” e children and Chair of Fawley Juniors RFC, Alison Cross, are thrilled to accept their kind donation which helps keep the cost of youth sports programmes low. Player participation fees cover the majority of the costs of a youth sports programme but support from sponsors provides additional resources which can help keep participation fees low. With lower fees, more families are able to a ord to sign up and that means more children being able to receive the many bene ts of sports. It is essential for young people to be involved in sports to maintain tness and give them something to do in these di cult times. To nd out more about Hants Health Care, and the fantastic services they o er please go to: www.hantshealthcare.co.uk e annual competition for the Dinner Cup is usually preceded with an evening of presentations when members enjoy a fun lled evening with a meal, laughter and merriment to celebrate the years successes. Like so many things in 2020 this had to be much di erent. Although the winners were congratulated and cups and trophy winner announced this had to be via e-mail and social media. On the plus side however it did mean that on the morning of the match for the dinner cup, heads were much clearer and eyes less bleary. Congratulations to the Dinner Cup worthy winners Sally Till and Debbie Campbell . Runners Up were Lynda Smith and Julie Bailey who beat Miriam Eve and Jane Physick into third place only on countback. Although there have been lots of obstacles to completing a full years calendar of events Captain Jane Physick and her committee have made sure that were possible matches have been able to be played. A round up of the winners are: Rose Bowl - winner Sue Lewis and runner up Miriam Eve; Victoria Cafasso - winner Sue Hallett and runner up Hazel Moseley ; Veterans Cup - winner Hilary Hanmore and runner up Hilary Bell ; Most birdies from quali ers - silver division winner Sue Lewis and bronze division winner Carolyn Cook ; Most pars for 36 handicap - winner Debbie Campbell and runner up Viv Boot ; England Golf Medal - winner Lyn Compton ; and Summer eclectic - silver division winner Sue Lewis and bronze winner Miriam Eve . A fun ‘sixes’ competition was held on the 21st October and resulted in a decisive win for the team of HHamore, LCompton and MAnnetts . ey beat C Cook S Hallett and D Campbell into second place and in third place were H Troupe, M Eve and D Ryan . Left Sally Till with Debbie Campbell Tottonians Rugby Club who are based in Water Lane Totton, are inviting people of all ages; from Year R (5 years old) to Senior Players, no matter if you’ve played before, your skill set or talent! Rugby is an inclusive game, for all abilities and ages. e Seniors (18 years+) train on a Tuesday and ursday, 7.30pm–9pm and Saturdays 2pm–4pm. e Colts (16-18 years) train on a Tuesday and ursday 7pm–8.30pm and the Juniors/Minis (5-16 years) train on Sundays 10am–Midday, usually an hour or so (depending on age). e Under 16’s, 15’s and 14’s also train on Wednesday evenings from 6pm–7.30pm. e club are really keen to hear from anyone in their school year 10 (U15’s). Coaching is provided by England Rugby Union Quali ed Coaches, at all levels. ere is access to gym facilities, physio support and strength and conditioning advice. e club has its own clubhouse and a great social atmosphere. If you just want to join for fun, tness or feel you can be the next David Sisi or Marcus Smith at senior level or any age, pop along to Tottonians RFC, you will be made to feel very welcome. Monday 12th October was the second round of the Bramshott Hill Seniors Championship. 32 Brave Senior players entered the eld to decide the prestigious title Bramshott Hill Senior Champion 2020. e weather was continuing to be kind to them considering the time of the year. e game was to be played o the White Tees in Medal format. is is considered the most challenging form of Golf. Some good scores were returned with Ian Blandford coming out on top with a score over two rounds of 161. e runner up was Mark Eve with a total score of 166 and third was Stuart Bulbrooke with a score of 168. In addition to the championship a medal competition was taking place the results of which were: Division 1: 1st Trelford Douglas , 2nd Henry Porter , 3rd Stuart Bulbrooke ; Division 2: 1st Bill (William) Merrett , 2nd Gerard Murphy , 3rd Brian Cox . Monday 19th October and again, the weather was kind to them and they feel very privileged, considering the conditions for most of the week. 39 players took to the course to contest a Stableford Quali er. e course remains in a very reasonable condition thanks to the e orts of the “MyTime” ground sta . Some very good scores were returned and the results were as follows: Division 1: 1st Stuart Bulbrooke , 2nd Peter Paine , 3rd Trelford Douglas ; Division 2: 1st Henry Porter , 2nd Ray Dunkason , 3rd Kevin Rothwell ; Division 3: 1st Gerard Murphy , 2nd Dave Kellaway , 3rd Eddie Moseley . Very soon the weather will, they’re sure, turn against them, but in spite of the ever-deteriorating weather, Monday 26th October turned out ne for the Bramshott Hill Seniors. is was to be another Stableford Quali er but as the ground sta had introduced the use of winter tees the game was changed to a Stableford non quali er. Sadly the course has su ered from all of the recent rain and the ground sta are working hard to keep it in a playable condition. e game becomes more challenging as they progress into winter, however 30 players took on the challenge and the results are as follows: Division 1: 1st Ray Dunkason , 2nd Brian Lewis , 3rd Henry Porter ; Division 2: 1st John Manning , 2nd Gerard Murphy , 3rd Bill Merrett .
