It was an amazing effort; the local youth workers feel privileged to have been a part of it. Our thanks must start with Lisa Hayes and the Gang Warily Scout and Guide HQ. Lisa’s idea gave rise to e Waterside Christmas Appeal. She worked endlessly alongside e Handy Trust and Fawley Parish youth workers. However, Lisa was not alone; we have a whole host of honorary elves to thank. So here goes, a massive thank you to the following: Days Associates, Tesco at Dibden, Dibden Allotment Funds, Pauline Bradbury of CrankPots,DeanWhite of Compuco, Paulesh Patel of WHSmith, Mike Sangha-Fawley Express, e Co-Op (163 Long Lane), Mark urston–Jones of Thurstons, Hays Travel, Sarah Graham of Waterside Funeral Giving Santa a Helping Hand Home, Premier Express Marchwood and Manor House Baker – Marchwood, Willow Beauty Products, Stu McIlwraith, Alan Alvey and Alexis McEvoy and many other generous nancial and time donations from lovely members of our local community. We also need to say thanks to ExxonMobil Fawley Site for the donation that had local youth workers dancing in the streets along with Santa; we need to thank Santa. It was very nice of him to turn up, even if he did make the reindeer rest up for their big night. Feedback from the ‘Friday night ventures’ was heart-warming. Parents thanked us and commented about how their children ‘loved it’; their children enjoyed the ‘little treat’ Santa delivered. Another said: “My children loved seeing Father Christmas actually standing on their doorstep.” It was fun visiting local children. If you missed it look out for the minibus next Christmas. We will advertise it on social media. e biggest note of appreciation must go out to the local community. Without your big-heartedness, Santa would not have been able to reach every child in the way he did or been as generous. From Marchwood to Calshot, 300 children from 112 families received at least two presents each. Many families also received hampers, food parcels and Christmas dinners thanks to Tesco, Waitrose, Martin Smith from e Lovely Little Cafe, Co-op, Stu McIlwraith and yourselves. Please do give yourselves a well- deserved pat on the back from e Handy Trust, socially distanced of course. None of this would have been possible without the community working together in the way it did. Here’s hoping 2021 is a healthy year for the Waterside Community.
