If asked not to do it, some people can become defensive, insisting it does not cause any harm. The fact is - it does. Not only that, but it is also illegal. Ponies in particular are highly motivated by food. ey will ght amongst themselves to take the lion’s share, pushing each other into the road and in front of oncoming tra c. ey are clever enough to associate humans with the arrival of food. When they hear a rustling bag, or notice a car slowing down, they lose all sense of danger on the road in their rush to get to the food. A fed pony can easily become a dead pony. Donkeys are even worse since they will stand in the road, foal at their feet, like some kind of highwaymen hoping that people will stop and feed them. carrots at home and do not feed the animals or pet them. If they approach you just walk away and do not be tempted to engage with them. Please always consider their safety and please do not put their lives at risk through kind- heartedness or indeed sel shness. Killing with Kindness No Limits is seeking trustees to help aid the strategic direction of the charity and ensure children and young people have access to the best possible support in Southampton and Hampshire. In the last year, No Limits has supported over 7,000 children and young people and has continued to provide free and con dential information and advice both online and face-to-face during the pandemic. Natalie Webb, CEO at No Limits, said: “Trustees are such a core part of who we are and what we do, and they really help to govern and shape our services and strategic direction. We’re proud to have a dedicated and skilled board of trustees and we’re looking forward to welcoming new members. We are particularly looking for individuals with IT, legal and finance skills, but would encourage anyone, from any background, to think about whether they would enjoy being part of our dynamic organisation.” To nd out more, please visit: www . nolimitshelp.org.uk/vacancy/no-limits- trustee, email: hr@nolimitshelp.org.uk or call 023 8022 4224. Local Youth Charity Seeking Trustees Animals may become aggressive towards people who are too slow to o er them food or attempt to pet them. ey can bite, kick, or chase people. When they have committed one ‘o ence’ they can be taken o the Forest and sometimes they have to be put down. Many are not adapted to a life in domesticity and no longer have ‘a job’. Food, even carrots and apples, in quantity are not good for any of the forest stock. ey cannot vomit, instead they succumb to colic, an extremely painful and o en slow way to die. Human food such as meat items, bread, and litter are even more dangerous. Garden waste, especially grass cuttings, are o en lethal. Pumpkins are a particular problem since they are poisonous to hedgehogs as well as a problem for the Commoner’s animals. All the Forest ponies, donkey, cows, sheep, and pigs are owned by one of the Commoners. Ultimately it is never appropriate to feed someone else’s animals. Please leave your pre-sliced
