We are a Bible believing Christian church, our usual services are Sunday at 11am for Communion and 6.30pm for an Evening Service, then Wednesday at 7.30pm for a prayer meeting. We also held a drop in centre for digital online help, along with other local churches, mainly for those on Universal Credit. Unfortunately we have been unable to do this since March. Due to the pandemic we are continuing to meet for Communion as normal, but with social distancing and face coverings in our back hall at Rollestone Road, Holbury SO45 2HB. Our Sunday Service is at 6.30pm again with social distancing, face coverings and of course no singing, in our main hall. We are looking at this week by week, as we have guest speakers and some have to travel some distance. Just before Christmas you may have seen Mary and Joseph walking around Hythe with Angels, Shepherds and Kings following in procession and bringing Joy and Hope to all those they passed on the way. ey then found a place to stay in a makeshi stable outside Cornerstone church. Members and friends of Cornerstone made the life-size puppets and walked them round Hythe, but because of COVID-19 restrictions they were unable to stop and sing. is was a simple but eye-catching way to bring the true meaning of Christmas – the coming of Jesus Christ - into the village. Seeing the smiles on people’s faces as they passed it was felt that Joy had certainly been shared that day. Safe & warm in their Cornerstone stable Procession through Hythe Village A JOYOUS SIGHT TO BEHOLD! BETHANY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP by Michael Horne We do believe we need to be open as people need to meet up for worship and fellowship but with adherence to the Government guidelines. Our Wednesday prayer meeting is now held online via Zoom at 7.30pm. We are missing having our ursday co ee mornings, but it has been proposed that we have a Zoom version of this once a month, we are looking into how we can achieve this. We are looking forward to when we can return to our normal activities. If anyone wants to join with us via Zoom please contact mjhorne@hotmail.co.uk Council says “Help Us Help the Homeless” As we go into the colder winter months, New Forest District Council (NFDC) is asking people to let them know about anyone who may be sleeping rough, homeless or at risk of homelessness, so that they can provide appropriate advice and support. Cllr Jill Cleary, Portfolio Holder for Housing said; “If you see, or know of someone, that you suspect is homeless or sleeping rough, please get in touch with us so we can give them the practical support they need as soon as possible. “It’s important that everyone in the New Forest has a safe place to stay this winter, sheltered from life threatening cold weather and the risks from Coronavirus. Our homelessness team is here at all times to provide support and a route toward accommodation for those who need it.” From the start of the Coronavirus outbreak NFDC has helped more than a 100 people known to be rough sleeping, receive support and help to secure their own accommodation. e council continues to support these and other households who are facing homelessness through the winter period and beyond. Tackling homelessness is one of the council’s key priorities for the district, with ongoing investment increasing the amount of council owned temporary and move on accommodation available for homeless households and rough sleepers who require emergency accommodation. Cllr Jill Cleary went on to say: “If you have been served with a notice to leave your accommodation I urge you to get in touch with the homelessness team as soon as possible. Don’t wait for the notice period to expire. We can start helping you today.” e council is on track to open a dedicated building for ex-rough sleepers and a further 4 temporary accommodation buildings in the spring of 2021.
